I looking for headphone to use at work (laptop, ipod) that seals of the music from my coworkers. I don't mind hearing them but I don't want to have them listen to my music. What is the best can for this purpose?
my short list:
- ATH M50
- DT770

I think that dt770m has the best isolation. They are designed for drummers... There are different opinions on the sound of these, though... But for isolation, that's the way to go

ATH-M50 isolates well and are definitely better unamped than DT770

Graph of those mentioned so far, except the GMP. I also included the HD280 Pro which have a good rep for isolation.

The M50 is the worst, DT770 the best.

It's interesting. When I checked a couple of years ago, the HD280 beat everything by a wide margin.

IEMs kill any of these.

i have had the hd280, the dt770 pro 80 ohm, and the m50. still have the m50. the hd280 isolates well but squeezes your head, has mediocre-at-best bass, and has a rep for headbands breaking. the dt770 is comfy, isolates well also, but has thudding large bass and shrieking highs. the m50 isolates ok, has far better sound than the other two, and is comfy, but it does have vinyl pads which can get hot. nobody will hear what you are listening to with any of these

once you turn the music on, you won't hear anything much outside on the m50.

Then you're listening too loud unless you're in a quiet environment. Even with IEMs I hear traffic and background noise while commuting on the subway.

m50 are not noise sealing/canceling headphones.

They are not marketed that way either. But they do oke keeping noise in/out regardless but no where near phones that actually market them to do so.

I assume the graph is for the DT770M?  There is lots of confusion surrounding the different DT770 variations.

Comparing closed headphones I owned, I found that they block sound leakage in this order-
 
K271 > SRH840 > DT770 (pro/80 ohm) > D5000
