I got the Shure 440 after hearing much praise around the web and here on head fi. now im just wondering if i got a fake one on amazon since it was $30 less than the others. when i pop open the cushins. theres this little plastic grill and beneath it is the driver. the driver has this paper thing on it that vibrates to create sound. now im just wondering if that thing piece of clear....paper looky thing is legit for my supposedly neo dimium magnet?

I can say with 95% certainty that your SRH440 are legit, at least when it comes to proper driver assembly.  That grill protects the driver from accidental punctures.
