Pretty stock standard, but after finishing the 3rd season of Game of Thrones, I've decided to pick up the book series. Just got home with the first 2 novel's now and will soon begin my reading.

I have read them all, they are great. If you like them then you should check out his early Sci-Fi, like the "dying of the light" or "Sandkings" which is also very good.
If you are interested there are short prequels to A Game Of Thrones called "tales of dunk and egg". I think there are 5 but they are very short and really satisfying reads.

I've just finished reading 'Beyond the Shadows' by Brent Weeks (book #3 of the Night Angel series) and it was possibly one of the best series I've read after Harry Potter. Would definitely recommend to everyone!
I've just started book #2 of Lian Hearn's 'Across the Nightingale Floor' which is also quite interesting.
