What are your main portable phones?

I typically go back and forth between the Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 and the Shure SE530's. I'm making a move towards proper cans shortly though and always looking for suggestions...

Yeah, but can such a tiny thing really drive cans like those? Seems like you'd really need to amp it.

For me, my main portables are a pair of Denon AH-C551 canalphones. I like them very much. As backup, I have the Sony MDR-EX082s which I got with my NWZ-A818 DAP. They don't come close to the C551s, but are still really good for pack-ins. And I acually prefer the EX082s when listening to audiobooks and such, because they're less sensitive which almost completely hides the A818's hiss. With the more sensitive C551s the hissing becomes more noticable, but really only when it's completely quiet around me. If there's any noise, the hiss can't be heard. That's also true if the music I'm playing is a little more intense, then it drowns out the hissing. But as I said, for listening to audio books in bed before sleeping (a very relaxing excersize for me), I actually prefer the EX082s.

Grado 225 with portable recable(a pure sound) in quiet environments
Audio Techna AT ESW9 to walk around a little louder environments
UE Triple-fi 10 pros for noisy environment especially if not walking.
(Occasionally px100s going lite in quieter)

My preferences depend on the situation and on my mood. I do love my (APS portable recabled) SR225 (hello dallan!) for walking. If size/space/weight matters I grab at the KSC75. In situations where I don't want to disturb others and don't want to be disturbed (mainly in trains) I use the ER4S. They are, however, unsuitable for walking, biking etc. due to the microphonic cables. The Livewires and HD25-1 on the other hand can be used in almost any situation. I just love to choose day in, day out
