Currently working my way through Sleep Token's second album "This Place Will Be Your Tomb."


I quite enjoyed the first album, "Sundowning." I'm... Torn on TPWBYT. Sundowning was kinda pop metal. TPWBYT is metal flavored pop, if that makes sense. While Sundowning had me jokingly refer to ST as "Mumford & Sons but for goths," TPWBYT is just... For too long stretches straight up "dark pop." The mixture they hit pretty well in Sundowning feels just off in comparison. On repeat listens I mellowed from my first "meh this is disappointing" impression. There are too many tracks on here that safe for the lyrical content feel just... Straight up like Imogen Heap or Mumford. I never listened to Imagine Dragons, I've seen people make that comparison.
