Lonnie Liston Smith

Before becoming a bandleader, pianist/organist/composer Lonnie Liston Smith made essential contributions to important recordings by Roland Kirk, Pharoah Sanders, Gato Barbieri, and Miles Davis. After founding the Cosmic Echoes, he issued six influential electric albums for Flying Dutchman between 1973 and 1977 -- including Astral Traveling and Visions of a New World -- that established him as a jazz-funk innovator.

Beethoven Piano sonatas
András Schiff(ECM New Series)

A lifetime’s sum of knowledge is expended in András Schiff’s live performances of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven.
Only a pianist who is completely inside the music could stay so rooted in the classical style, while stretching it to embrace shades of the fortepiano, a razor-sharp humour, brusque rhetorical gestures and incipient romanticism.
Occasionally irritating, always vividly individual, this is Beethoven with a character very much its own.
