Old Blue Eyes, killin' it on this compilation album. Outstanding orchestra behind him and a beautiful production. Recommended!

After listening on Spotify... My answer ....

Donald Byrd Order.jpg

Ordered before the first track finished. Anyway, I listened to the entire album. It's absolutely fantastic! Better than anything I have of him thus far. Very Miles like in Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way, and Sketches in Spain kind of way.

I was able to get the Japanese UHQCD CD release for $16 bucks since I had a $10 & change credit. Will be here Tuesday. Gotta love Amazon Prime

I got my Donald Byrd Electric Byrd CD in today, and the sound and mastering is great on this UHQCD CD version...

Donald Byrd - Electric Byrd.jpg

The recording is strong and loud without being sounding annoying or harsh. It's also extremely clean, no weird undertone noises or digital artifacts. Just a clean recording with lots of micro detail. And this is through my speakers. I normally access sound quality through headphones. That'll come in another listen later on this evening. But yes, the album, the music, and mastering is phenomenal. As I said in another post, this album is in the same area as Miles Davis's Bitches Brew, Sketches in Spain, and In A Silent Way... all rolled into Electric Byrd.

I normally list a favorite on an album, but here my favs are the entire album! HIGLY recommend this album; and especially to those who like those Miles albums I listed.

They're heyday was from 79-roughly 93. They were U.S based (New York City). Post disco, Soul/R&B. See here > Skyy. They had some big hit, one of which was Call Me; Real Love, and others. They were a popular group. Some might compare them to Chic (not me), Kleer, One Way, or Shalamar.

And now two more to check out: Kleer and One Way!

Little Halloween playlist:

^ This one is a must on Halloween; few things truly frighten me (I'm disturbed and saddened/depressed by many things, like death or tragedy, but not actually scared by them), but humankind's propensity for bad beliefs, that result in deleterious, often horrifying, collective action (whether by violent mobs, organized terrorist groups and militias, or oppressive governments/policies), the very real utter sheer madness ordinary people can descend to, is something that will always go beyond disturbance and give rise to terror (and anger/revulsion) in me.

^ Classic; creeped me out when I was a kid.

^ Obligatory. Scared me as a kid, though I loved it (still do).

^ Something lighter, silly.

Some "scary" metal:

^ Zany album with of course an "on topic" cover, title, and some Halloween themed tracks. Great Halloween party album.

^ There's something always mildly creepy about the organ-just the atmosphere it creates-and the cover is kind of scary, so I'm throwing this new-to-me one on today.

Happy Halloween all! 🦇 :jack_o_lantern:👻💀☠️:spider: :smiling_imp::skull::imp::japanese_goblin::japanese_ogre::full_moon::owl:😈🎃🕷️

14 CD almost complete box set... Shirley, a new brunette in town, talking to the taxman about a new England's sexuality, waiting for the great leap forward before singing the Internationale on Mermaid Avenue... so to say...

Yet another remastering of Dark Side of the Moon. This time, the 2023 50th anniversary edition. It sounds a lot like the last one. So many versions....
You got that right; the only version of DSOTM that I ever bought was when it first came out in 1973 (alas, that is long gone), and that was pretty thrilling; I'd seen them perform an earlier version of it the previous year at the Philly "Spectrum Theater" (they closed off half the venue and set up the stage in the middle of the floor).

Photo from San Francisco in 1975...
