Tonight's listens:

The Pick of Destiny - Tenacious D: Wow, I forgot how funny this album is. I wasn't really looking to add it to my collection but saw it come up from the same seller I bought another album from on Discogs. Figured why not... Master Exploder is my favorite. The movie isn't half bad either.

Blinding White Noise: Illusion and Chaos - Skyharbor: This is actually what I was looking for on Discogs. Can't find it on Qobuz, so picked up the CD. Awesome group from India and features Daniel Tompkins (from Tesseract) on vocals, at least for the songs I've heard.

Anyway, the Redbook layer of those Mo-Fi discs still sound great and why I like them. But depending on title, the Blu-Spec discs can sound better. Here's some I bought from CD-Japan. For Kind of Blue, I prefer the Mo-Fi disc, but for Bitches Brew, I prefer the Blu-Spec disc. In the end I think it comes down to material as which edition may sound better. Of course, gear plays a role as well. And of course, you have fans who prefer a specific company, so...

Blu-Spec CD. They are louder than the Mo-Fi discs, but there's lots of detail and clarity there as well. The Japanese (Sony Japan) certainly know what they're doing in their CD manufacturing/mastering process. And thus, why I'm always seeking their releases, whether SHM, Blu-Spec, and simply Sony Japan.

Yeah, I know those premium discs/vinyl can be expensive, but I think they're worth it (depending on price). And why I buy them as well :L3000:

Nice discs and great photo! I haven't explored much into Blu-Spec CDs. I have both Blu-Specs for James Taylor JT but haven't gotten around to listening to them yet. Going to look into some of these next time I order from CD Japan! They seem worth the while.

King Gizzard & the Electronica Wizard

Not a guitar in sight, but unmistakably KGLW. The extended mix versions are the real treat imho.

Thanks. My other passion is photography. I've been doing that off/on since 1979.

As for Blu-Spec disc, I'd say go with your experience based on what you have as I'm not pitching anything.

Anyway, there are two more Miles Mo-Fi SACDs I'm looking to get to complete my "want collection" - Sketches in Spain, and 'Round About Midnight. That would add to the...
  • Porgy and Bess
  • Bitches Brew
  • Kind of Blue
  • In a Silent Way
  • Miles Smiles
  • Sorcerer
  • On The Corner.
  • Nefertiti
Though my top 5 in no particular order would be Porgy and Bess; Kind of Blue; In a Silent Way; Bitches Brew; and Sketches in Spain :L3000:
