RIP Malcolm John Rebennack
Sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. John, the Night Tripper. Just came from a 3 day NOLA trip and thought of some of the places I used to catch him back in the early 70's, maybe late 60's. An icon of New Orleans music. the Dr., The Radiators, The Nevilles, and others too many to mention color my musical tastes to this day.
Cha Wa "Spyboy" The band I heard last weekend in New Orleans had two members singing in full Indian regalia in 90 degree heat. I got off on ii. YMMV

2005 studio album featuring my favorite bone player -- Pinecone Gordon.
Wynton Marsalis on trumpet. Victor Goines on reeds. Uber musicality.
Herlin's rhythms are NO-based; his last job was with Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Nice.
