What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Not difficult, just superfluous, annoying. For me it just complicates things (and then there's the program bugs). So, unneeded. 🤷‍♂️
We can agree to disagree since I'm actually doing instead of hypothesizing

And is it really superfluous.... or lack of understanding 🤷‍♂️

Anyway.....

But I find myself tending to go back and listen to the music of my youth. Especially the albums that I missed because I couldn't afford them. There is quite the education here if one wants to take advantage of it
Same here. Zappa, Weather Report, Miles & his sidemen (loads), Can, Stockhausen, Marvin Gaye, Roy Ayers, Kool & the Gang, Earth, Wind & Fire & the usual suspects from the soul & RnB camp ...to name but a few ... again loads of stuff from the late 60s up to around '75
I have near 3000 CDs and about 900 vinyls, though admittedly about half are on also on CD. That said, I clearly know something about being overwhelmed with the sheer volume of music one has. Some stuff has been a rediscovery, some I'll never play again. One of the benefits of ripping my collection to PC is I can now easily cruise the collection and find stuff. This is where the rediscoveries come from as I can easily click an album I've not heard in ages.
I guess I'll keep my rigs in global shuffle mode for another while, especially during my daily walks. Usually once something rings a bell I stop for a moment and add a tag or two in order to tell the wheat from the chaff, I only need a couple more years to go through it all 🤪

I've got somewhere over 10k albums (granted, many of those are multiple copies of the same album) and that's kind of how I am: I always remember my "main stuff" and often go to it reflexively (I listen to Rush almost daily, especially while cycling/hiking); I have to write down artists/groups that are new or new to me that I bought and ripped I want to get to, otherwise I'll probably just semi-remember them and not get to them as I get distracted by something else I've already listened to (often countless times) I'm more in the mood for. Then they'll sit in my "To Listen To" folder forever.
10k ... oh boy. Like mentioned above I keep on adding tags and stars on a daily basis, not at last in order to thin out that mess plus lately I went through some folders and just delete or zip up stuff I really don't care about anymore. No more needs to keep it all and no regrets so far. YMMV.

^This album is the original 1994 release and has the samples to 3 songs that were involved in a lawsuit. The result of the lawsuit removed the samples from future releases. So that's a neat thing I found. It's actually fun to listen for what music was sampled. Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, and Sly and the Family Stone were some notable samples used.
