‘Sinatra at the Sands’: When Frank Sinatra Ruled Las Vegas

51T2fjjCyUL._UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg

Time capsule for the banter from ol' Blue Eyes (no doubt
alcohol induced) to the audience - from building costs of the newly built SANDS, to whom amongst the "Rat Pack" was the biggest drunk to hyper insensitive racist humor - Sinatra at home and at his best of voice 1960's live performance.

- And hey, drink alcohol responsibly (or not at all) unlike this crew of high roller drunks mid '60's at the Mob owned Las Vegas Sands .
That's one of my favorite albums of all time. The orchestra is perfect and Sinatra is powerful. His monologue is a blast. Dean Martin for captain of the Olympic drinking team. HA! :)

Not my usual sort of music but I sometimes listen to groups like Steely Dan, George Michael and Elton John who has made some classics,

one of the mellowest songs I know, the contrast between a dangerous act with softly sung vocals. This was used to good effect in a tv series once, a burning car was rolling down hill crashing into a gate while gentle piano music was playing, that left a big impression on a 7 year old.
I've always loved this song.

My usual crap

Thank you for reminding me of that band - unheard for far too long...

PS/btw.: I attended two world premieres at the Berlin Philharmonie yesterday. One composition by Julia Wolfe and one by Lisa Streich.

Especially the piece from the latter composer called Ishjärta (translating to 'iceheart') was absolutely fantastic, unusual and fresh music. For those interested in modern classical stuff maybe something to look forward to when being published on a record somewhen.

Kirill Petrenko in full force finally conducting Tchaikovsky....
