Seems amusingly ironic this spiritual guy like John McLaughlin being in the Trio of Doom! That's a great trio, though, doom or not!

Thanks @whirlwind for the idea! I have not heard this before now - very exciting
and exceptionally engineered. Guest artists: Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell,
Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Bobby Charles, Paul Butterfield, Muddy Waters, Neil
Young. Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Ron Wood, The Staple Singers, Stephen Stills,
Pinetop Perkins, Ringo Starr, and enough turkey to feed 5,000 people. You could have
eaten at the show @LarsMan! Horns arranged by Allen Toussaint.

Wow - that’s stunning to me. I envy you the opportunity to hear this iconic concert for the first time.
Sadly the only recording I know of with the 3 of them together. I always assumed the sophomoric name was assigned to the album by the marketing guys after the fact, but now I wonder - did they actually tour as the Trio of Doom?Seems amusingly ironic this spiritual guy like John McLaughlin being in the Trio of Doom! And I post a few chill-metal albumsI predominantly listen to heavier material most being technical death metal and progressive metal variety.
However, I compose my listening with some flow > usually lighter or more pop-like introduction give way to the more gritty progressions.
The album art is the consequence of just what may be.
I'm with you on contrasts... I do the same thing with the playlists I create. But the non-metal tracks need to 'fit' and contribute to building up a narrative or bizarre ethereal mood. I even drop bits of documentaries or movies in there, hahaha
