Dire Straits' 1978 debut album
I bought this when it came out in '78. Nobody had heard of the band back then!
We knew we had 'discovered' something special...
Saw the band in London in their early days and then again in Tokyo when Love Over Gold was released.

Everyone now knows 'Sultans of Swing' but the debut album has plenty of other good songs.
I really like 'Wild West End'.
I saw David Knopfler ( Mark's younger brother) play it live in a small theatre near me a few years ago.
Brilliant song and evocative lyrics, especially for anyone who knows London
