He was the wizard of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him one night wandering
He told me tales and he drank my wine
Me and my magic man, kinda feelin' fine

He had a cloak of gold and eyes of fire
And as he spoke, I felt a deep desire
To free the world of its fear and pain
And help the people to feel free again

Why don't we listen to the
Voices in our heart?
Cause then I know we'd find
We're not so far apart
Everybody's got to be happy
Everyone should sing
For we know the joy of life
Peace and love can bring

So spoke the wizard
In his mountain home
The vision of his wisdom
Means we'll never be alone
And I will dream of my magic night
And the million silver stars
That guide me with their light

American Fool. 1982 album by John Cougar

Many critics dismissed John Mellencamp, but what do they know...
I own 10 of his albums! This was the first one I bought, when it was released in 1982.
He is an artist who really cares about getting the production right.
Many good songs on this album, including 'Hurts so Good' , 'Jack and Diane', 'Danger List'.
I also really like this one:

In glorious MONO. This 2009 remasted mono version is different from both 2009 remastered stereo & 2017 remixed stereo versions. The 2017 stereo remixed version was done with the original mono recording in order to get the best sound possible & parts missing on both the original stereo mix & 2009 remastered stereo versions. The 2009 MONO remaster is different & “on some songs” better, to these ears. Some of the songs, e.g. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, still play at a different/ slower speed & sounds more psychedelic in the middle eight.

Listening w/ GS3Ke > Vintage Kenwood KA-8006 Int. Amp., 70wpc [1974] (in mono mode) > Schiit Loki > Teac PD-H600
Thanks for this @BobG55.
Fascinating that this mono version is preferred by many, to the stereo versions.
I haven't heard it, so can't comment.
I thought this article on Discogs website was interesting:
https://blog.discogs.com/en/mono-versus-stereo/
The only Mono album I have bought recently is John Mellencamp's 'No Better Than This' which was recorded using a single vintage ribbon mic and no overdubs.
T Bone Burnett produced it. To my ears it sounds a bit 'muddy' , but I love the fact that Mellencamp had a go, and also used some historic venues for the recordings.
BTW, I know that discussions about audio gear are 'off limits' on this site, but that Kenwood amp looks great
