I quite enjoy this 2 disc set of Miss Holiday's early 30's/40's recordings several with Lester Young, Artie Shaw and her own band. It doesn't contain any of her later hits like Strange Fruit. I would like a good collection of her later songs. Several recordings that Sinatra recorded later that speaks well to her influence.
Voivod's 2013 release-weird, proggy and heavy....love this disc:
2 disc set. Disc one from the 70's is excellent. It's what I enjoy the most by far.
3 CD set covering 4 decades-great overview for newcomers.
Streaming on Rhapsody:
Better than I thought so far-pretty enjoyable IMO
Foo Fighters-Sonic Highway...OK, so not super daring but I find this really easy on the ears. Almost like Grohl's been listening to some Tom Petty. A fun album I'm sure I'll pick up and listen to plenty.
I needed to remind myself how good Wasted Light was.
Agolloch- 2014-The serpent and the Sphere...I really enjoyed this...more mellow for sure
The OneUps - Super Mario Kart Album
https://theoneups.bandcamp.com/album/super-mario-kart-album
Unfortunately nowhere as good as their previous material due to the group changing their sound to some super corny electric funk reminiscent of B-rate movies from the '70s. It isn't as bad here as on later albums, however, and some of the original jazzy sound is still present in some of the tunes. Overall the album is quite relaxing, though, and that's just what I need right now.
Nobuo Uematsu - Distant Worlds II: More music from Final Fantasy
I think I'd say that this is better than the first Distant Worlds album which I find somewhat disappointing, but it's still no match for albums like "More Friends: Music from Final Fantasy" and "20020220", both of which are live albums to boot and sound exceptional. The vocal performances here are still as disappointing as on the first disc and for me at least at times even cringeworthy.
Yoko Kanno - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex O.S.T. 3
The Ghost in the Shell soundtrack I've listened to the least. Yoko Kanno is a fabulous composer, that's all I can say. The track "Hantou no Higashi" on this disc is really great. Shame I can't recall where it plays in the series.
If you have an interest in this soundtrack or any of the other Stand Alone Complex OSTs, but have trouble acquiring them on CD, they are also available on the iTunes Store for affordable purchase:

Various artists (GINGA) - 0005:a galaxy odyssey
Nice addition to the series. You can get the CD from Amazon Japan, or if you are content with just digital files it is also available on iTunes and it is a Mastered for iTunes release to boot. The track "まどろみコスモ" (Madoromi Cosmos) is really great. The ATOLS song that follows it is also typical ATOLS quality.
