Here's what's been on my playlist this morning:

William Albright - The Complete Rags of Scott Joplin

Scott Joplin is a musical genius, and this collection proves that right. I studied some of his music in college when I was undergoing my Associates in Music.. fantastic stuff!

Ingrid Fliter - Beethoven Piano Sonatas

I love her playing.. an absolutely sensational pianist. Beethoven is also at his finest with these Sonatas. I recommend this to each and everyone.

Brad Mehldau, the Art of the Trio vol. 1

At this point in time, pianist Brad Mehldau's style falls between Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, being heavily influenced by the voicings of the latter and the free yet lyrical improvising of the former. With fine backup work by bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy, Mehldau explores five standards (including the Beatles' "Blackbird" and "Nobody Else but Me") and four originals, coming up with melodic yet adventurous ideas. Mehldau displays much potential for the future.

Listening to disc 1 including the 34 minute album highlight-Bring the Sun which is just amazing...hints of Jim Morrison, shamanistic frenzy...

Just digged out this one here... a trip in a time-machine...

Yeah, always love to hear that song when it pops up on the classic station...haunting sax riff.  Not sure why, but it made me think of (and listen to) this Bruce Hornsby cover of Madman Across the Water.

FWIW, there are some other really good songs in here...Burn Down the Mission by Phil Collins, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting by The Who, etc.
