What Are You Listening To Right Now?

While I'll admit to reading up on "Kind Of Blue" @ 0300 hours and was less than refreshed, I'm almost certain the Mono version was derived from the Stereo Master, not recorded in Mono.

Only the people who actually did the original recording could tell the true story. It is most probably a multitrack recording and out of that two, stereo and mono, mixes have been created. Given we had to wait so long prior the wrong speed was fixed in subsequent re-releases, I doubt we will ever know the whole truth about recording of Kind of Blue.

Just released today, Big Gigantic's The Night is Young.  Not as many amazing sax solos (or any) as there were in past albums, it's a lot more disco-ish than blues/funk/jazz but still enjoyable nonetheless.
Download for free (along with all his other music) at his site: http://biggigantic.net/

The Noisy Freaks -- Selection
I'm not sure if you've heard of these guys, but neither have I; I only started hunting them down on the Internet after coming across a clip of theirs on a Netty Scribble video. This French duo (Daft Punk much?

) are actually quite popular with their awesome electro house tracks. I was blown away by this. Their track "Selection" is their latest single from their new album "Simple Life," which will actually release on February 17, or about 5 days from now. You could pre-order it on Bandcamp, too, but you should listen to some of their really energetic tracks. They're an awesome pair.
