I'm listening to this too....but the 24/192 version from HD Tracks. XD

I was listening to the DSD, SACD version.  So who had the highest resolution?  I confess, I don't know.

Who mastered your version?  In this case, that makes a MUCH bigger difference than resolution, and underscores by biggest beef with HDTracks.com, they don't release any info on the provenance of their releases.

The Steve Hoffman mastered version is definitely the desired version in this case...

If you really like Yes, you really need to get this SACD!  It was mastered by Steve Hoffman, and it sounds fantastic!  You may be already too late though, I think it may be sold out.  There's always eBay, but you nay have to pay a little extra...

EDIT:  Looks like they still have some at Amazon.  Better hurry though!   http://www.amazon.com/Close-Edge-Yes/dp/B00A93ENI8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362631372&sr=8-1&keywords=yes+sacd

Too late? Nah, Elusive Disc still has a bunch in stock: http://www.elusivedisc.com/YES-CLOSE-TO-THE-EDGE-D-LTD-ED-SACD/productinfo/AFSA147/
It's true that most Audio Fidelity releases sell out in a matter of months, but these two most recent SACDs were released quite recently (I believe), so I think there's still time to get your copy but you can't wait forever. Some releases also have a second pressing, so there might come a second chance for those who miss out on the first pressing, but that's not guaranteed by any means.

This talk about resolution reminded me of this article by mastering engineer Ian Shepherd, who is one of the people involved in the Dynamic Range Day: http://productionadvice.co.uk/no-stair-steps-in-digital-audio/

Also, 192kHz files? Wow, just curious, have you ever checked if your system can play high sample rate files without audible intermodulation distortion? This entry, also written by Ian, contains a link where you can download files to test this: http://productionadvice.co.uk/high-sample-rates-make-your-music-sound-worse/

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bad-mouth high resolution music. I don't own an SACD player for no reason. Please use your own ears to decide what sounds good and what doesn't, but I at least personally am interested in understanding why certain things sound different; it might not always be for the reasons we think. What nelamvr6 said about the quality of mastering is the most important point: how things were recorded, mixed and mastered most likely plays a far more significant role in the overall sound quality than the final listening format, provided it's not something like a 128kbps MP3 file.

Also, I only chose Ian's articles as examples because he typically tries to explain things in terms that people unfamiliar with the technical side of digital audio can understand. Here's another article a friend of mine (who's a musician) linked to me on Facebook: http://trustmeimascientist.com/2013/02/04/the-science-of-sample-rates-when-higher-is-better-and-when-it-isnt/
It's quite long but interesting even if I'm not sure if I can really agree with everything that's said in it (I don't fully agree with Mr. Shepherd either but he is quite knowledgeable on the subject nonetheless and I respect his opinion).

Sorry for going perhaps a bit off topic.

This brings back such good memories. I need to revisit this game at some point. One of my favorites I played in 2012. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I'm such a sucker for visual novels and I feel this is a good one even if it's a bit short.
