A 2017 box set of Crusaders albums: '5 Original Albums'

This CD box set comprises:
'Chain Reaction'
'Those Southern Knights'
'Free as the Wind'
'Images'
'Street Life'

I have some of these albums on vinyl, but couldn't resist buying this brand-new box set of 5 CDs, for just £11.00
You should check out this album, Les. It's unique and quite tasty.

My listening today is some old coal mining music ... thinking about the people
in Eastern Kentucky affected by the flooding. Be strong, folks.

Merle was a pioneer of the guitar finger-picking method later adopted by folks
like Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel. His method was actually more complex
than was Chet's - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fingerstyle_guitar#Travis_picking
These albums are from the 1940s and 1950s ... gotta love Qobuz. They never
made it to CD.

Coal minin' blues ... masterful.

Here Merle runs into the Nashville "wall of sound" courtesy of Roy Acuff. You decide -
is this better?

In the DC area, their version of 'Summertime Blues' was a big AM radio hit; in fact, it was the first version of 'Summertime Blues' I'd ever heard....

Nice choice ... that's one of their early albums. A cool band.
I haven't heard anything by them that I didn't really like. Their style varies from album to album, and their recordings are clean and dynamic. Just great music!
