Alt-J Awesome Wave

thanks for posting this up. I am only getting around to listening to it now - I love it, it sounds amazing on t1/WA2.

Are there any other bands like this that you would recommend?

Be-Bop Deluxe - Axe Victim (1974) CD, Rock, EMI Records Ltd. England, (1990)

Bill Nelson, always a favorite listen.
Spun the vinyl "Live! In the Air Age" to death in 1977, loud and proud, first track always cranked.

The first cut on this album is"Fingertips,Part 2". In 1963 he was known as Little Stevie Wonder and often appeared at Walled Lake Casino, a music venue just out of Detroit. Two or three times weekly there would be shows with multiple acts and as Motown Records was just taking off there was no shortage of talent.

This particular cut was recorded live and Stevie was right into it....when the song was supposed to end he just kept going and his backup band just followed along. The next act was not prepared for the unplanned extended set and ran onto the stage ready to start their set....lo and behold, Stevie was still wailing....at 2:22 of the song you can quite easily hear a voice yelling"what key, what key"....he was a guitarist in the next act and just started playing along with Stevie and his band....

I always found that fascinating...
