Pimms Deluxe

This is a spin-off of the old British cocktail. It has Bombay dry gin, Pimms #1 and muddled cucumber. And garnished with a cucumber

I actually like this version better than the standard British version. Either way, both versions are good.

Trip to New York rooftop bar near Times Square

Royal Roots

This cocktail called Royal Roots had Botanist gin, Norden Aquavit, Gifford rhubarb, Cocchi Americano and orange bitters.

A lovey cocktail in the city with great views

House made Limoncello

This was the best version of Limoncello I’ve ever had. The bartender told me that an enormous amount of lemons are used to make this.

Had my first taste of Limoncello when my wife and I toured Italy…been loving it ever since. Oddly enough here in the states a lot of stores don’t stock it though. Perfect
for any summer. Every taste reminds me of Italy.…Cin Cin!

I have enjoyed supermarket Limoncello, but it had a lot of sugar, which is not good from a diabetic point of view.
Does your glass focus more on the lemons rather than the sugar?

The views from this rooftop bar. It’s called Overstory Rooftop bar. The views are panoramic and it is stunning. The bar is near the World Trade Center. It can be a little difficult to get a seat so make a reservation. I was lucky and got a seat without a reservation but I do recommend getting one.

So yeah fantastic views

In my opinion the store bought version is bad but I could be wrong. A good version should be homemade and should have a strong taste of natural lemon and not too sweet. It still will be sweet though

Paracetamol Drop is my drink for tonight. No picture from my side. Anyway it doesn't look too good...
Thanks canada drugs for this amazing drink and thanks to my lovely colleague, who decided to cam to work with the virus.
Tomorrow will receive the results of my test, really hope it is not covid again, cause I already had it twice.

Heineken.
Probably overrated in a sense that it is sold so massively around the world, people raving about it without any proper developed taste of beers.
But it is massively underrated by beer snobs who just like to crap on any macro brewer.
I love craft beers, I love Belgian trappist beers and I have found out that I also love pilsner/lager beers.
In the past I have always dismissed pilsners as cheap and watery beers, especially the big brands like Heineken, Stella Artois, Carlsberg, Corona and Budweiser. But lately I have started to appreciate pilsners for their clean and subtle taste. And what do you know: I almost like all of them, but especially Heineken for its balanced take. Just the right amount of sweetness and bitterness. The much praised Dutch brand Alfa beer I find pretty bland, the Czech Pilsner Urquell I find too hoppy for a pilsner.
Yes, there is a difference in taste between a bottled and a canned Heineken. The bottle has some skunk in its flavor, the can does not. (The bottle looks cooler though).
I also like Budweiser, a much hated beer, but to me it is probably the most clean and subtle tasting pilsener out there. Heineken has just a bit more character.
Heineken for the win! But to be honest, any cold pilsner will do just fine :)

Reviver

The bar named this drink the Reviver. Consists of Hayman’s gin, cucumber, mint, mango nectar and lime juice. A lovely refresher

Suit and Thai

An unusual cocktail name and a very unique and different cocktail. Has tequila, poblano liqueur, coconut rum liqueur, lime, chili lime, celery bitters and garnished with basil oil and chili oil.

This very unusual cocktail tastes like Indian food. A lovely strange surprise.

Naked and Famous

Despite the name, it’s actually a famous and known cocktail among aficionados.
Has mezcal, aperol, yellow chartreuse and lime juice.

There is a world wide chartreuse shortage so it may be hard to find but some bars may have a hidden bottle somewhere in their back room in order to create this cocktail

The Naked and Famous cocktail is one of my all time favorite drinks. It’s a masterpiece. But you have to like mezcal in order to enjoy it.

Trip to Austin, Texas

Just came back from Texas yesterday so of course I wanted to focus on Mexican style drinks.

The restaurant called this the Sombra Margarita. A very unusual version of a Margarita. It had mezcal, tequila blanco, pomegranate, rhubarb amaro, port wine and lime juice. And the side of the glass is coated with salt.

Shaken aggressively to create the nice frothy texture by the beautiful bartender with beautiful eyes. A lovely drink.

This next drink is the Paloma but the mezcal version. It had Illegal mezcal (that’s the brand name of the mezcal it’s not an illegal product) grapefruit, lime juice, agave and chili pepper on the rim of the glass. A refreshing cocktail with a complex taste
