What are the most forgiving headphones you have ever heard?

iBuds. Purely because the music sounds exactly the same whether it's 2kbps mp3 straight out of the iPod, or .wav through a nice amp.

Not the nicest of 'phones, but forgiving in that sense.

Sony MDR-CD1700 gets my vote...

...As long as you like everything warm and lush, you'll be in heaven (although, these days seemingly these are as rare as rocking horse teeth)

HD590 and KSC-75 are very forgiving cans. HD590 has good ability to make any source sounds much better... In contrast K701 is pain when it is connected with bad source....

I think the HF-1 does great with mediocre recordings. It's forgiving, a little dark and warm.

And I'll disagree with jimmyjames8. The K-501 drags out a lot of detail, and I can hear problems and errors that don't show upon the HF-1.

Haven't heard a HF-1 so don't know but if it is more forgiving than the k501 on a tube amp, that's very forgiving. Might make old jazz sound better. Hmmm...

Today I was listening to CDs burnt from 128 kbps WMA files, and they sounded surprisingly good on the rig in my signature.

They were mostly metal though, which I don't find to be the most demanding genre sonically.

I'm surprised...

Metal is where I heard the difference between 256kbps and 320kbps, and made me make the switch... too each there own, you're not wrong and i'm not right, just surprised by the contrast between your and my opinon.

I'll go with the Grado SR60.

iBuds. They make crap sound like crap. I guess that's 100% efficiency.

0% efficiency for good recordings because good turns to crap.

I'm confused...
