i listen to metalcore music like killswitch engage and parkway drive.  does anyone suggest any closed headphones for this genre?  i dont want to disturb people within 10 feet of me and i dont listen to my music SUPER loud.  im looking for headphones under $200.  i also like comfortable headphones that i can wear for hours.  I dont want the headphones to be really tight around my head because i will probably get a headache.  thx

A couple options for ya:

Beyerdynamic DT 770 32 Ohm

Ultrasone HFi 580

Both the Beyers and the Ultrasones have deep well extended bass with clear, crisp(although a bit bright) highs.  You might find the clamping force of the Ultrasones to be a bit tight, while the Beyers are very comfortable.

Klipsch Image ONE, V-Moda, Phiaton, Pioneer SE-MJ51 and Dr. Dre Solo.

I very much like my DT770 for rock. They sound even better with the Gel ear pads!

thanks for your responses.  I will most likely be getting the DT770!

I hope you're referring to the DT770-600 ohm!  The low ohm version were my least favorite listening to rock.  Of the decent closed headphones I've heard and compared directly, my ranking for rock (with an SS amp) is:

D7000> D5000/D2000 > SRH840 > DT250-250 > K271MKII > DT770-80

i used to have the d2000 but felt the guitar sounded too distant on them.  is the guitar more forward on the srh840 in your opinion?

Listening to 'Forever to Tell' by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, an album with lots of gratuitous electric guitar, I'd say that the presence of guitar on the SRH840 is about halfway between D5000 and Grado RS-1.  You're right about the Denons, the guitars do sound more distant- an effect due in part to the bigger soundstage of the Denons (which I like) but also a result of their recessed mids (their biggest flaw), so there is a gaping hole where the sweet spot of electric guitar should be.  The SRH840 has much better mids so the guitar is more in your face.  True to their reputation, the guitar on the RS-1 growls a lot more than the Shures because of a punchier lower mids and bass.  In comparison, the Shures sound a little more top-heavy, emphasizing the higher mids and actually sounding a little bright in comparison and less weighty.  Maybe you can get Grados and a space helmet.  Or the Beyers could be the ticket, but I haven't heard the 600 ohm so can't advise you on those.
