I really preferred my other headphones to the HD-650 until I heard the KD-650with my Dynahi. Now it is the headphone I always go for first when I sit down. With the Gilmore Dynamic V2-SE (Dynalo) they sound good but the pairing with the Dynahi is something special. Both can be DIY and both allow for preamp function and multiple inputs.

Wheatfield, unite!

I built two m³ (one for opa637, the other AD8610) and a Millett Hybrid. For fast, it's the m³ hands down, and good power (STEPS) makes all the difference. But, there is just something about that Millett Hybrid that is more, er, harmonic... hence, I moved to it's pumped up cousins, the Wheatfields. You _could_ build one (HA-1 or HA-2), as the schematics are posted on Pete's site.

But, you can't go wrong with the m³.

I got a buddy who uses the Bottlehead S.E.X. amp. I I've heard it out of an M^3 and I can say that I didn't like it so much. It was a bit too fuzzy for my taste, if you know what I mean by fuzzy

I don't think any headphone has any synergy with that jack and if it does, it scares me and I never want to hear it!

Ok, i was a bit OT, sorry.
but, the nice thing about tubes and IME, Singlepower amps, is that Mikhail can voice adn tailer them to help you create the sound you want. Definitely not DIY though...next time ill read the OP...

If you can swing it, go for a balanced amp and cable upgrade.

Team: Everything else being equal, balanced is better

How different are they? I am looking for a headphone amp that can outperform my Sonic Frontier Line 2 preamp. I am using HD600 and listen to Classical and various other music. I am going to buy a pair of HD650 and would like the amp to be neutral side.
