I also wanted to add that I've used the Millet as a pre-amp with my roommates HTIB Sony receiver and my Paradigm Atoms with good results. It definately gave the Atoms a more smooth and musical sound, which you can attribute to the tubes I'd guess.

I'm using a Raptor and an SR-71 to drive the 650's. In each case great sound. The Raptor seems to tighten up the bass of the 650's to the point that it negates any criticism that 600 lovers may have made about the 650's IMHO.

I think a PPA should suit you perfectly. It is a bit more detailed and crisper sounding. Can be a bit thin sounding but bass boost should fix that.

I'm using both a PPA and a Mapletree Ear+HD.
Cans are HD650/equinox and K701.

I like all four very much, in various pairings. If I had to off two of these four items today, I'd be in a tough spot trying to decide.

You know what, I'm just going to sti k with the M3 (as per some suggestions) and if I want to change something, I can always roll the op amps. I've already gone through the whole speal with AMB on how to build a pre-amp around it so why complicate things now.

Contemplating a dynahi build. To those that use a dynahi with the hd650 what are the differences compared to say a PPA?
