Westone W80

I try.

K3003- it is IEM for reference listening. Good highs, mids and base when you have good seal. Mojo is a good pairing or a warmer DAP. For me this is almost like HD800 in sound signature
Roxanne- Highs not extended. Like LCD2s. Mids good but resolution lacking (bit muddy). Very uncomfortable to wear for long. Need a a brighter DAP
SE846- well the least favourite. I do not like sound signature. Highs not extended
W80- I now use ALO Litz balanced 2.5mm and is it even better than Ref8 and Epic single unbalanced. Overall best- comfort, musicality and balance of base/mids and highs. Can use for hours and hours without any issue.
Isine20- Great sound, difficult to get a good fit as the tube itself if larger than XS tip and I use XS . Without iphone specific cable sound not that great. Need to EQ carefully as otherwise the vocals become bit artificial.

Value for money- Isine20>K3003>W80>SE846>JHR
Comfort- W80> K3003> SE846> Isine20> JHR
Musicality- W80> Isine20> JHR> SE846> K3003
Referencing K3003> W80
Best for female vocals- K3003 >= W80
Acoustic music- Isine20>JHR>=W80
Sound stage- Isine20>W80> JHR> K3003
Hello,
What headphone amplifier are you using with the Westone W80 IEMs?
I am using the BENCHMARK DAC3 HGC as a DAC/Headphone amplifier and as a Headphone amplifier for my other sources. I enjoy it because it is the only headphone amplifier I have been able to demo that will drive my Westone W80 IEMs at 5 Ohms and 111dB SPL @ 1mW without noise or background hiss.

To the forum members, let me know if you have come across an amplifier that can drive low impedance and high efficiency IEMs, like the W80 Westones.

Didn’t see it mentions about difference from last generation, which is on sale for $599, with Bluetooth cable.

where did you see it being on-sale for that amount?

I LOVE the v1 and still recommend them to anyone looking for a phenomenal IEM that's low-profile. I am trying to get my paws on v3 to compare the sound against v1 and Sony IER-Z1R.

Keen to understand experts review of Gen 3. The accessories that comes with Gen 3 seems to be less than Gen 2
I believe that is the only real difference between the Gen 2 & Gen 3. The exclusion of the accessories (BT & ALO cable) is the reason for the lower price.

Yea that’s cool as well as the redesign of the casing. I was deliberating if I should get Gen 3 or Gen 2 before but took the shot at Gen 2 because of the blue tooth, not sure if I’ve made the wrong choice.

I was looking at possibly pickup up the W80s gen 2.

I would be using them with an Ipad Pro 5th Gen, and the new Iphone Pro max when it comes out.

I would be using them for alot of EDM music, some hip hop, soft rock, etc.

I have read that they seem to be good for EDM music, just not the sub bass, is that correct? and If so, any dap like the Mojo or anything else, that I could pair with my device to get more subbass and not comprise to make them great for EDM, and all other genres.

Thanks

Does anyone know if it’s ok to leave the cable in the dock when not using the westone Bluetooth b2 cable? Does it drain power? The reason I ask is that the blue led remains turned on even tho i have turned it off when the cable is in the dock

appreciate advice

Just posted in Westone W-series thread and had a similar question. Someone mentioned to me about Westone official sale of W-series iems, and I saw W80 v3 at $999, but there are no details about v3 differences. Looks like v2 to me. So, is the difference only in accessories?
