Why are they like $40-50??
No idea, quite bespoke I suppose, they are good quality and metal. I got mine from Amazon in late 2019 still have them on my W80 too, but no longer sold there.

MACH70 is my personal favorite of the MACH lineup. I always prefer extra bass (vs. neutral / flat)...
I have owned the custom ES60 for several years now. Total cured upgraditis till recently. Was looking for crisper high end and slightly larger sound stage. Purchased Mach 80 recently and it ads the high end and sound stage but the sound seems less "full."
Using with a non amped Sony NW-ZX507. I'm finding I need to turn volume up pretty high, near max. Would an amp help? For reference, I don't think amping the ES60's did much at all. Thanks!

@Spyro in case your question is directed at me (since you quoted me about MACH70) - I don't know. Never used Sony DAPs...
In general, I discovered that quite a few IEMs (and headphones) benefitted from more power, even when they were plenty loud without the beefier amplification. Not every IEM, but some...
Only way to know for sure is try. If you do not have an amp - try finding a loaner or meet with a friend who owns one...

It has been a long while since I have listened to W80... I forgot how comfortable these are (even better than IE600, as W80 are lighter) and wit ha bit of eq-ing these sound really good too!
Agreed, apart for the EQ bit, not required for me. I still use mine and often look for a good second hand one to have as a spare.
