If they changed only the impedance to 25 ohm and added metal face plates, I don't know what to say about that.
Well at least price is the same.

... and added bluetooth v2 cable. If the sound is unchanged, then it's just a better value refresh since the price still $1.5k with all these bonuses.

Does anyone have the Ibasso CB12s cable? Is it supposed to swivel about the connector like the ALO one did because mine doesn't and I was wondering if i did something wrongly.

I will double check tonight, and if I forget to reply - ping me in PM. I do have IT04 with its CB12s stock cable and got separate CB12s with 4.4mm termination (talked about it here). The one from IT04 was rather tight. The 4.4mm version wasn't as tight. There is always some small tolerance margin, plus if it's tight at first - after a few connects/disconnects and turns it will loosen up. But I don't recall it being as loose as Ref8.

OK, confirmed, doesn't swivel. Actually so tight that I had to use pliers to remove the connector.

Thanks for the confirmation, thought i had mine inserted wrongly as I couldn't remove by hand after either. On a side note, the cable is really supple compared to the ALO cables, pleasing to the touch and more comfortable to have on without the wire at the ear hook.

Exactly! Of course it's a subjective opinion cause everybody has different ear anatomy, and musicians/artist prefer extra security with earhook wire around their ears, but for me personally memory wire ruins the seal and the comfort because I have smaller ears. I usually remove memory wires, have done that with Ref8 cable and other ALO cables.

I am so close to pulling the trigger on the ES80's but i am afraid of as soon as I get them the next new model will come out. I really love my w80's but it is time to move to a custom monitor - anyone out there that can predict the future i could use some advise.

One thing, ES80 will not sound the same as W80, just wanted to clarify it  I covered the difference in my review. And, considering W80 v2 should sound identical to v1, I have a feeling you don't need to worry about E80 v2. Of course, I don't have a crystal ball either. Will compare W80 v1 vs v2 once I get it. W10/20/40/60 v2 incoming soon. W80 v2 a little bit later, and so does B30/50.

Btw, it was confirmed, W80 v2 will also be 5ohm.

Yeah i'm well aware that the sound will be different and I love my W80 sound but I have always leaned toward a neutral sound which should be what I will get with the ES80 - I just do not want to be the proud owner of the ES80 right when the ES100 comes out! I mean I only had my W60's for about a year when Westone made me buy the W80
I'm also going to upgrade my Astel & Kern AKII to the A&K SE100 which should be a good fit with the ES80

Did you try to contact and ask them?

No did not try to contact them - I just assume (I know) that they would not give out that information
You assume incorrectly. I would tell you to wait if a new hero CIEM were to launch in this year. There wont be one as we are thrilled with the ES80 and have yet to make something better. Better yet, if we do make a new hero CIEM in 2019, I will make you that version free of charge :) Enjoy

Got the impressions made and ordered the ES80's last Friday, now the waiting game begins - very excited for my first CIEM's!
