I use the large star tips so I assume the large shure are what I want.

I found this, is this the same thing:

Great find man!  Now, since I have a part number, I was able to look it up on-line from Sweetwater for $11.59 with free shipping: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EASFX1-10L?adpos=1o1&creative=55678036321&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CJrh2JX488UCFYREaQodHgUAbA

I'm probably going to order a set of large and a set of medium tips.  I mean, we have different ear anatomy, so your fitment and sound perception might not be exactly the same, but I actually found that Shure large tips gave me a very similar sound as large Star-tip but had an advantage of lower profile so Pro 50 doesn't stick out as much from my ear.  Shure medium tips relaxed low end a bit (in quantity only, not the quality), while made upper mids a bit brighter due to a less tight seal.  On a contrary, Westone medium Star-tip killed the bass for me  Tip rolling is an awesome mad science

I can't wait to get my UM56 custom tips to see what the heck they're going to do to Pro50 sound sig!

Shure tips "sure" make UM Pro 50 and W60 come aline in my ears   This us PURELY subjective to my ear anatomy since they give me the best ratio of seal to bass/upper_mids control.

If you want ultimate experience - UM56 custom mold eartips turn your Pro50/W60 and other UM and W series (and probable Shure SE series) IEMs into CIEMs.  UM56 - tip rolling stops here

and you get the best possible seal with a perfect balance of sound signature.  The only caveat, your custom-shaped earpiece is not 100% aligned with the bean-shell of IEMs since it can rotate (though tightly) around the nozzle.  It's definitely not a straight-froward in and out like with silicone tips or going in and out with one piece CIEM.  Here, you need to wiggle it a little bit every time you insert these in your ears to micro-adjust the fitment.  The draw back, if you don't have those tips lubed up or you have dry ears, the friction of that micro-adjustment of silicone UM56 tip can hurt your inner ear.  So, there is a price to pay if you forget to lube it or your ears are dry.  Will have UM56 review sometime soon.  Also, expect W60 review and comparison to UM Pro 50 and W40.

@Spyro : Do you have any comments/tips on how you use your UM56 tips with Pro 50?

I just found the cable that takes my Pro 50 to a couple different levels...... This is what I was looking for in cable (at a fantastic price). Taiwan cables company. Happy listening!

How did it change the sound for you?

Make the sound even fuller with greater instrument separation. It's like kicking the sound 4K from HD. Everything is crisper and more refined. More details and more dynamic sounding.

Any increase in extension on either end?

I can't say. The sound is just bigger, fuller and more detailed. Those are things that stand out to me.... The Pro 50 sounds like a different earphone than the one I originally bought. The instrument separation is definitely wider and more air around the instruments.

This is the word I'm looking for>>>>> the sound is more "vivid!!!"  I mean the Pro 50 is kicking out more details and even more instruments I didn't know were in certain songs.

Does it reach W60 levels of detail?

@Spyro : Do you have any comments/tips on how you use your UM56 tips with Pro 50?

I've actually gone back to the star tips.  While not quite as detailed and tight, its still very very good.  The star tips seem to make the soundstage a little more wide open sounding and they are more comfy in the ears.  The UM56 actually get uncomfortable for me after about 30 min.  It fits VERY snug in the ear.  I don't have this sensation with my acrylic custom JH5.  Not sure why the big comfort difference with acrylic versus vinyl.

I think the decision to go with universal tips or UM56 is a very personal/individual thing.
