I was gonna get the Ultimate Ears 11Pro's but my washer and dryer are going out. I want to get GE Harmony series (for a little over $2k, with 5 year extended warranties), thus having to lower my IEM budget. I really want the Westone 3's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TTBOMK, Westone did most of the R&D work + physical layout for the Shure IEMs. The similar appearance (shape/size) and same (interchangeable) size for ear plugs somewhat hints at the common origin of both companies' models. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If the above is mostly correct, then were Shure E500/530 sort-of "prototypes" of the new Westone 3. I.e., Westone had the 3-driver design prototyped years ago, gave Shure a somewhat "final" model, but just recently "perfected" it for their own use?
