Yea the XB series have the most bass out of most anything that will be recommended to you. I have the V-Moda Crossfades which are more expensive but almost as bassy as the XB's but IMO have better sound quality and look about them. Phiaton MS400's are also up there, Denon D-1100, maybe a couple others I am forgetting.

If you want punchy bass then stay away from XB700 & DT770 Pro/80 ohm, they've got a lot of soft/deep/rumbling/slow bass but doesn't have that much of the upper punchy bass. For punchy bass XB500, Ultrasone HFI-580 and Denon D1100, Shure 750DJ. Maybe also V-Moda Crossfades, at least you get a very solid build quality that never breaks.

Is that kind bass you're looking for though or did you just spit out the word "punchy" bass for no good reason? At least here punchy upper bass would be associated with mid/upper bass around 100 ~ 200Hz frequency response range.

You might want to consider the Denon DN-HP700, they have a deep bass that is not boomy and has alot of impact along with very clear mids and treble. The bass of HP700 is nothing like the D1100/A100 headphones by Denon as those both are more boomy and have a bit of echo to them. The HP700 is also pretty comfortable (about the same as most DJ style headphones) and built extremely well.

He probably doesn't fully understand what "punchy" means in strict audio terminology(which is okay), most people don't. I think he is just trying to fully convey that he wants strong bass.

XB500 or XB700 with some sort of power supply going to them.

Don't know about the others, but have a pair of ATH-PRO500BK on the way that are supposed to give some deep bass.

How do these compare in regaurds to bass (coming from the m50, unamped) Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro and the Ultrasone HFI-580... i will end up within the next 6 months buy the Fiio e9 amp..
