Another one more Walnut here. I got it 5 min. ago . It came with the famous chinese card, 2x 3.5 mm jack wire, charge wire and a micro sd card reader.
I just played it 1 min. and happy with the sound,  very clear. Thinking to buy it another one when they sell it again.

Are there any solder points on Walnut PCB I can check to improve noise floor?

yes it is a constant buzzing static sound that can still be heard when the music has been paused, and adjusting pot or digital volume does not affect this static noise.

to put it into perspective, it is louder than the infamous static noise from my Fiio E11.

so it is safe to leave it plugged in and let it burn-in through the weekend right?  volume is at 10 o clock position with max digital volume.

what is your phone, it's impedance and sensitivity values?

I tried the following, and I can hear the noise floor on all of them, some more obvious than others, of course.

their specs taken mostly from "theheadphonelist" IEM review thread.

Xiaomi Hybrid
impedance: 32
sensitivity: 101

Monoprice 8320
impedance: 32
sensitivity: 96

KZ ZS3 (spec from gearbest)
impedance: 18
sensitivity: 106

NuForce EX600
impedance: 16
sensitivity: 100

Xiaomi piston 3
impedance: 32
sensitivity: 98

  finally i could find enough time to mod my walnut;

here is my first mod;
changed chinese power supply cap to panasonic NHG 1000uF 25V (upper right corner)..
it's about 5 mm taller than stock one, so i had to put it over micro usb socket..

next, will try to change potentiemeter to an alps rk097 type..

I havent open up my Walnut yet, but could you please advise if the power supply cap you replaced is of same rating or different?

and cant wait for your update on your pot replacement!
