Against all odds I did order an EVE20 today... lively signature with clean, deep reaching bass is just too tempting. Plus I like the design, and in my last round of iems the VE8 lost to the 64audio N8. Interesting concept... having a free playground that is not bound to any brand-expectations / house sound requirements. And for some irrational reason I like serial numbers. Nice, low numbers that is.

The EVE 20 is pretty unique in that it's one of the more versatile 'specialist' IEMs... if that makes sense. In any case, if a lively signature is what you're looking for, I'm sure they'll deliver.

things I like are a lively signature, deep reaching, well structured, maybe even a bit prominent bass that must not bleed into the mids. And must not have elevated midbass. Plus I like extended, detailed treble with a certain shimmer, but without harshness. I do often buy blind (untested), but I do trust VE to have good taste and production quality.
I think I have a mental model for "versatile specialist"... I'mm not looking for something dead neutral, but an interesting take on music reproduction. And your description sounds just like that.
VE said something about second half of May, so it should not be too long a wait.

Yes, the EVE 20's upper-mid lift makes it ideal for the female voice; more so than males, even, to some degree. It all comes down what kind of presentation you're looking for. If it's crisp, wispy and pristine (lean, perhaps), the EVE 20 is a bit fuller in tone than that. But, if what you want is a fleshed-out vocal with lots of texture and fullness of tone, but with great clarity too, then the EVE 20 will deliver.

It's not ideal if your genre of choice is classical or anything space-oriented in general. As mentioned on the First Look, the EVE 20's large note size means its stage is often crowded with instruments. So, it's not for those who want a super-spacious, super-airy stage with crisp, compact notes precisely imaged all around. It's also not for those who want a more even-handed, linear, reference response for studio work. Then, those who crave lots of air and sharpness in the upper octaves may also find the EVE 20's treble a hair too in-line with the midrange. Again, the transient and body of a note tend to come hand-in-hand with the EVE 20. Detail-heads may want that transient a bit more pronounced relative to the body of the note. Lastly, those who want their instruments neutrally-positioned (i.e. not as intimate) will also find the EVE 20 too forward-sounding. These are the crowds I wouldn't recommend the EVE 20 to.

Hmm I wonder how does the EVE compare with the VE6XC....can it be considered an upgrade?
