I didn't like how t-amps become unstable at higher frequencies. I have not heard the amp but was impressed enough to do some extensive research.

If you've never heard the amp why rule it out based on something you've only read?  I have no idea what this HF instability is supposed to be, nor have I ever heard it before.  Highs sound gorgeous on the virtue amps, like...... well the rest of the spectrum does.  :)  Tripath done right takes all the best things about both tubes and SS and marries it into a single beautiful sound.  I hear the phrase "not for everybody" tossed around as a caveat for audio gear but I simply cannot imagine the sound of the virtues not being for somebody.  It just sounds RIGHT, like nothing else I have ever heard.

Over time I've developed a simple and elegant way of describing how I feel about these amps:  whenever I listen to anything else it feels like I am listening to a recording.  When I listen to the virtue amp I feel like I am listening to music.

I'm glad others feel as I do...outstanding amps across the board. I have heard many amps in my 52 years and none compare to this little gem!!

I have a Virtue Sensation M901 and it's going battery powered soon. I think it's fantastic!

An update from me:  I highly recommend a battery supply for these Virtue amps.  I had the standard switching supply, then the JT dynamic linear, and now the Dodd battery pack.  I would say that the batteries are the best, by far.  It's not even close, IMO.

Within a month or so I'll have the Dodd tube buffer + bypass caps in my M901.  Can't wait!

I have the Virtue One Classic with the 30v power supply and have a Piano M1 on the way.  The Virtue One is, IMO, a superb performer in all respects.  Virtue Audio deserves much credit for bringing such fine equipment to the market for such reasonable prices!

How did you like the linear supply vs. the switching supply?

Don't get me wrong, my Sensation sounded detailed and made good music even on the weakest switching supply they offer. The JT Dynamic added some additional weight to the sound, especially in the upper bass. But both supplies had a good deal of grain/hash they only going to batteries resolved for me. Suddenly music became way more three dimensional, and simply had a higher level of resolution in every area. It just sounded more real.

I hear a lot of people say batteries are the ultimate experience with this amp.  Honestly I've been satisfied with my 130w switching supply.  It is the most natural and grain free sound I've personally heard.  The fact that the amp could sound even better is really quite something.

Yes, batteries made a big improvement for me.  Technically, I guess it would depend on how good the power grid is in your area.  The cleaner your power, the better the standard supplies will sound.  But with batteries, you don't gotta worry about any of that.  I should note that I have a fairly revealing system as well.  My Gallo Strada speakers don't pull any punches.

I had the battery power supply.  Yes, it's better than the stock ps (the one that comes with the unit) but that's faint praise.  I'm using the 130w power supply now.  It seems to have more grunt than the batteries.   And it's certainly less hassle.
