Enjoy that combo! I have had my V850/V281 stack for more than one year - got both devices used, literally in mint conditions - and this won't make me look for other dac/amp combinations anytime soon.

Not much to add to above other than the fact that I love my Violectric V850 /V280 combo. V850 dac has smooth, organic, clear presentation with visceral mids while the V280 amp has the tube-like warmth, staging and punchy low end. Perfect synergy in combined music rendering and they both stack nicely.

Good choice. I bought the V280 precisely for balanced headphone output. For me, it’s the natural upgrade from V200. It’s a pity this is now replaced by V222. If budget allows, currently the V281 LE reissue may be another more powerful option to consider for enhanced output possibilities.

Fried did say the V222 is still a very nice option to pair with the V850 DAC. i might see if i can find a v280 on here, or a V281 if the budget can stretch. or just settle for the V222. altho the v280 and 850 aesthetically would look great stacked together.

V222 is a great amp less power than v281

The best price I found for a V800 was $700 + shipping on eBay.

It's not me selling it by the way but I bought one to go with my V222.

V850 I could not find anywhere or anything near a decent price.

In the case of R2R, I think it is better to try some specific device by yourself and buy exactly the one you've tried and liked.

V281 will be amazing with a Gungnir A2 and even better with an Yggi GS, some of the best synergies I have heard so far.
