Thanks, I really want to try the muse opamp, I read somewhere that the socket inside allow for replacement of opamp. What is not clear to me is if it DIP or it requires soldering.

edit:Found it, it is DIY friendly

Yes, that's how Rudi0514 got the DD1 with multiple OpAmps :-

I'll be doing a comparison between the Muses01 & OPA-627 myself. I have both and I have to do the Muses01 quickly before returning it to VentureCraft this week.

I want share my impression between op amp LME 49860 vs Muse 01 :
Source : iPhone 4S
dac : go dap dd 1
amp : alo Rx 3 B and RSA RS 71 A
headphone :  LCD 3

high : LME more extended high and brighter than Muse 01
Muse 01 smoother has more detail than LME
mid : LME is not so sweet and clear than LME
Muse 01 has sweet and very clean and clear mid
bass : LME is as deep and full body bass impact than Muse 01
Muse 01 has better bass body and impactful than LME
separation : Muse 01 has better separation than LME
soundstage : here the LME more shine and wider than Muse 01
This is the only minus from Muse 01, more or less like the soundstage from my
                      Cyberlabs class solo old .
the rest op amp Muse 01 as a winner for go dap DD 1

Muse 02 I haven't try properly , sound zig like Muse 01 with better bass body and more bass impact and less clarity than Mise 01
with Muse 02 my go dap DD 1 sound zig almost like my class solo old.

this evening I heard my op amp muse 02 properly :
Source : iPhone 4 G
dac : go dap dd1 with op amp muse 02
amp : RSA RS 71 A
headphone : LCD 2 rev 3 with angle jack
cable : Norse Reign 8 x 21 awg

high : less bright than muse 01
mid : fuller than muse 01
bass : more bass bottom , better bass body , I hear the kick drum more realistic than muse
           01

For all rounder use iems and headphone : muse 01 is the correct one

For headphone use with better bass impact and less clarity muse 02 is the correct ones.

note : after 2 hours burn in muse 02 more open than out the box , wow I love it
Very deep bass impact and more clarity

this is my personal impression

I'm doing some rather preliminary comparisons between the DD Socket 1 pre-amp Muses01 & the OPA-627 opamp with the MHd-Q7 as the head/earphone amp and I firstly I must say that both opamp pre-amps work very well.

Having said that, of the two, I'm enjoying the Muses01 more so than the OPA-627 opamp pre-amp. I don't want to list down details yet until I've done more testing but at least to me the Muses01 seems to extract out the best from the DD1's AKM AK4353 DAC. The OPA-627 does have a deeper sub-bass extension but Muses01's detail, airy presentation and separation is very well presented.

Back to listening!

If it is possible can you guys comment on the AKM DAC chip?

It uses the AKM AK4353 DAC which is the same DAC used in most (all??) the VentureCraft Go-DAP X,  & 4.0  series too. I've only done some very brief comparisons of the base DD Socket 1 OP-275 against the original CLAS and if memory serves me correctly, I found at least through the OP-275 OpAmp Pre-Amp, the AK4353 DAC sounded rather mellow which was great for Jazz and Classical but possibly a tad mild for rock & pop. Having said that, these other Muses01/OPA-627 OpAmp Pre-Amps don't seem to exhibit the same characteristics as the base OP-275 model.

I kind of enjoy this DAC quite a bit. At least to my hearing, it's definitely added another dimension to say, the original CLAS Wolfson DAC.

That is great news, more than 50% of my collection is Jazz and 40% classical and 10% would be old pop and alternative rock. Now it is matter of deciding between buying the MHd-Q7+DD socket 1 (Muse 01 edition) or the new earsonics SM64. Going to be a tough choice for me.

Thanks for your input.

Well just be aware that on Amazon USA, the DD Socket 1's available are only the OPA-627 & OPA-275. The Muses01/02 are really in Japan only. Having said that, I'm sure you're innovative enough to find ways to get the Muses01/02 versions somehow anyway.

Hi rudi,

I'm considering switch to DD Socket 1 from Go-Dap X. For the past 5 days, I have been suffered from my Go-Dap X 47Ω output impedance that change sound signature of my backup iems (TF10 and W4R). Always using my TG334 with X, so I don't know that it sound this bad paring with those two. My long gone TG334 is also affected by those high impedance but no as much as TF10 and W4R.

Do you think MUSE01 or MUSE02 will be a better choice? I haven't decide which amp will be paring with DD socket 1.
