What do you think of the monks then? How many hours did you listen so far?

They're very good. The best earbuds I've heard under $50. It doesn't have a lot of detail compared to some Blox earbuds because the highs are a bit rolled but the bass strength and texture is much better than Blox BE3/BE5/M2C. As I said in the other earbud thread, I've been around the earbud scene for awhile (before Dasetn, Tingo, all those old hypes) and these are the best budget earbuds I've heard. Definitely my top budget earbud recommendation. I am really interested to know who the OEM is for these drivers, they are very good for such a cheap price.

You have to try Music maker MrZ Tomahawk! You can get it for $47 from Easy earphone on Aliexpress. Then you might change your view on Monk to "best earbud under $45". :D

I will look into it. Of all the earbuds I have tried at a "budget" cost (Dasetn, Tingo, Blox BE3/M2C, Sennheiser etc) I have been most impressed with the VE Monk. I think the Monk's are the only budget headphone that sound "full" in sound signature like a full sized headphone. If you think the MrZ Tom's have the same effect I will give them a try.

Looks very promising thanks. Might have to get myself a pair or just go for the VE Zen 2.0 and see what the fuss is about.

If you can swing the Zen 2.0, I would say they are a tremendous buy especially if you can run them in a balanced configuration. If purchasing in a balanced configuration, it comes with a singled ended adapter as well, so you can use it with your favourite mobile devices.

But running it balanced out of my Geek out v2, the sound stage just positively explodes! To the point that it seems like a step backward running it single ended. IMO a properly driven balanced Zen 2.0 is a force to be reckoned with. just my 0.02

Believe it or not but the drivers are easily and quite readily available. Its not so much the drivers that is responsible for the VE magic, but the genius who tuned the drivers, the virtuoso sound engineer KK.

I think it's a stock shell too? Have seen the design on a bunch of other earphones. I noticed on the Zen it has a nice tone when I tap it with my fingernail, like a tiny instrument.

How do you purchase them in a balanced configuration?  I don't see that option.

Stock shell for the Zen 1, for the Zen 2 its a custom design iirc, could be wrong though. Cool, I didn't try that does have a nice ring to it :)

Its the third option on the order page, the pic shows the different adapters which are included, which signifies its a balanced model. Check here: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Venture-Electronic-VE-Zen-high-impedance-320-ohms-earbud/1924356_32302987270.html
