V-MODA M-100: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, etc.

Lets see, the thread has derailed a dozen times, miceblue has disassembled and reassembled his M-100's a couple of dozen times, and Craigster75 has become secretly engaged to his M-100. On my end, when out and about I still get looks from people concerning my cans and have had to field questions a half dozen times on make, model, pricing and where I got them. Overall, it's been an entertaining time on the thread. You should hang out here more often

:p

You missed the really fascinating part when someone didn't like the m-100's as much as some others. Gives me the heebie jeebies just typing about it...

Hey guys, I have a few questions about the M-100:

1- M-100 vs Akg K267?

2- Good Amp for the M100?

Thank You!!

1) AKG Tiesto series seemed to be a flop overall with poor build quality, and M100 are liked by almost everyone.
2) M100 dont need amping, but I like to use them with a ZO2

Agree with comment #1
I am not as big of a fan of the ZO2 as a stand-alone amp as I feel it doesn't provide enough of a boost across the range, only the bass.  I prefer the FiiO E11 for volume boost as well as a solid bass boost in that price range.

Any thoughts on the Fiio E17 for the V-moda M100?

I believe SpiderNhan uses that set up IIRC. So you can ask him.

FiiO E17 has a great synergy with the M-100. It tames the bass a little on default settings, but you also have the option to EQ the bass and treble to get your desired sound. I usually go Bass -2, Treble +2. On top of that, the mids are brought out a bit more and the soundstage and instrument separation opens up. The cMoyBB v2.03 sounds muddier and more congested* in comparison.

*These terms can be misleading. I do not mean that the cMoy sounds muddy OR congested in the least. Using the cMoy gives a better overall sound than the M-100 unamped. I am only saying that in comparison to the FiiO E17, the cMoy sounds slightly muddier and more congested. It took lots of A-B listening for me to come to that conclusion, but the E17 is clearly a superior amp.
