Hi!

Im looking into getting a pair of new headphones and been looking at the Sony ZX700 (which is as high as im willing to go in price) i'v also looked at the Shure SHR440.

Which of these will the best upgrade from my current HD201 ?

Thanx!

Haven't heard the HD201's, but I can say the ZX700's are a fantastic headphone. Very comfortable with great isolation, and a design that I really love. The sound can be pretty harsh at high volumes, but at most reasonable listening levels they are fine.

Thanx.

To clarify while the HD201 is ok, i feel they lacks bass and are a bit to harsh.

Now im not after a pair of headphones with boomy bass. My preference is more clear trebble and midrange. I just feel the Sennheiser HD201 lacks bass overall.

I,m leaning torwards the Sony, more opinions ars welcome though.

So i saw the XB700 for about the same price as the ZX700, what is the main difference between the two ?

they are very2 different.. XB series are bassheavy headphones, where zx700 is more neutral in presntation.

XB700 will give you a rather recessed mids and piercing highs with deep rumbling bass.
ZX700 will give you a more well balanced sound with good vocal repro, and a decent bass.
