Hey, I am new to this, currently I am thinking of buying new headphones, even though I like my m50s, I would prefer more bass so I am looking for an upgrade. I would like close back type headphones and maximum isolation if possible, I am willing to spend between $150 to $300, I mostly listen to rap, techno, sometimes rock, hip-pop, etc. I have found some headphones which meet my requirements, they are:

Ultrasone: HFI-580
Ultrasone: HFI-780
Beyerdynamic dt770 Pro
Audio Technica ATH-Pro 700 Mk2

Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks

Edit: Also I will not be buying or using a amp.

I've heard both the DT770 Pro's and the HFI-580's. For more bass, the HFI-580's are the way to go, but I think the DT770 Pro's are superior in almost every other way.

I second the DT 770 Pros. Unless you think you'll buy an amp in the future, make sure you get the 80 Ohm version.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus.
In MalVeauX we trust.

They still want amping to make that bass not sound like a complete fart cannon.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no need to buy new headphones but buy a Portable Headphone Amplifier from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003N0XDT4/ref=s9_simh_gw_p422_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=16NCNBAETN88MVT62SC5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846

The M50s do not improve almost any with amping. All it does is take in the amp's innate signature into it's sound.

edit: Ah, if you want more bass, that's the way to go. The M50s respond well to bass boosting, and the E7's EQ one adds a subtle amount. EQ2 and 3 turn the M50 into a bass monster.

The E17 has a noticeably better DAC, much stronger amp, more inputs, and bass and treble controls, for better tweaking. It's no contest.

Again, for the M50, the amp portion won't matter, but they'll benefit from the DAC and bass/treble control.
