I dont really think its an upgrade to the actual headphone, I think the extra cost is just for the noise cancellation, which would be a real rip off because it is doubling the price for the same sound. I also think that upgrading from Triports would lead to paying less for the upgrade than you did for the triport.

In a very awkward and pricey way...yes. but the px100's would be an upgrade from triports, and they cost less than 1/3 the price.

I call that 'reverse upgraditis'. I had a whole Bose system(AM10 dual cubes +AM15 powered bass module) and assembled a KLH system(9250B towers + 9900 Center/surrounds) that was significantly cheaper and killed the Bose system with its surrounds tied behind its back-obviously. And we're talking about a price difference of $550 (used Bose, new would have been around $1000) vs. $150 (new KLH).

You could also give SR60's a good suggestion as an upgrade to the TriPorts, and they cost less than half, and the same can easily be said about the ER6i and the QuietComfort 2.

HD590s might be worth considering as well, sufficient oomph in the bass they do have (more so than the 595 it seems). Very comfy, too.
