I have seen them with the silver faceplate off, but it looks like you`ve broken the translucent body.  It`s just 3D printed plastic - get some super glue, pour a yourself a drink and patch it up!

Just to let you know, I did super glue it back together and ye it's like it never happened. I think I will get them moulded into ciems sometime next month anyway as I like that Unique Melody can also put your own designs on them, seems pretty cool. Thanks for advising me to do it myself anyway as I was going to pay for them to get unnecessarily re shelled/repaired.

The entire cable subject has already been written to death all over the forum but 200-300 hours really? From any scientific standpoint that is just plain silly. Whatever change might occur to the dielectric used should take no more than a few hours of use. Safe to say what you hear after 24 hours is what you will hear after 1 year. I only made this comment because I am tired of dealers making such silly claims. Just my opinion folks so don't jump all over me.

Having auditioned to almost all the TOTL IEMs, I pulled trigger on the Mentor.

A recabled Mentor is end-game. Nuff said.

Just received my Universal Mentors.

The included accessories were a nice touch, but I wished they were better quality imo.

Anyway I would like to ask will aftermarket cables make any significant changes to SQ?

When I had the Mentor I used some aftermarket silver cables. I was not impressed with the stock cable that came with the set. I am not usually much into cables but the aftermarket cables made a positive improvement in this case. On the same subject when I got the Mason set I found the cable supplied in the set to be the best sounding of what I have on hand. Better than the silver that I was using with the Mentors.

Thanks for the feedback. Your experience with the Mason is indeed interesting, I would have thought a cable performance would be similar across the board, but I guess even pairing matters for cable type. When I have the cash, i'll invest in a silver cable.

My silver cable has just arrived for a couple of week now and I would like to give my impressions on the changes I've heard.

With the silver cable, the iem has become more "bright", the vocals are the main improvements, they're more pronounced and clear, now I feel the vocals are at the right place, not too forward or backward. The bass is tamed, meaning slightly lesser in quantity but very slight improvement in quality. The top end remains as good as it is. IMO, a worthy purchase to get a silver cable for the mentors, they were injustice with the default cables they came with.

i more described it as more "air", like a viel came off.
