It looks like UM changed the faceplate to being flatter which is a good thing. I owned the original MEST MKII and the faceplate was more contoured which resulted in the metal “hats” falling off since they are just glued on. The contoured faceplate led to the hats not being glued on as well. Congrats on your purchase!

Thanks!

I can't speak to degree in which the original MEST MKII contours, but this one does have some. Like you said, it looks like the metal parts are solidly glued. Nonetheless, I'll keep an eye on them.

Time to pour a drink and listen.

PS: Anyone have a good 4.4 to 3.5 converter? PW and Moon Audio seem to be the only ones; might just get a PW #10 2.5mm.

For Shanling M9 owners with the Indigo, what gain level do you use?

I'm on Medium gain at the moment, seems significantly better than Low gain setting with better imaging.

As you go higher in M9 gain, the voltage is higher as well, and to my ears it improves performance of DD driver. Try Turbo as well.

Turbo gain for iem? Will that be too much?
I thought increasing gain only increases the input signal amplitude and not voltage (power).
Is it specific to M9 that an increase in gain comes with increased voltage?
Also, my understanding is always to use the lowest gain level that provides sufficient volume, because a higher gain than needed will lead to distortion on frequencies......

Maybe the case with M9 is different, I'm eager to have your and anyone's advice and comments.

Thanks a lot!

What I posted above was a screenshot of M9 spec since you directed your question to M9 owners  Of course, with turbo mode on you will have to lower the volume, but the voltage still scales up.
