Under the hood - Electrostatic amp photos
Apr 5, 2023 at 5:48 AM Post #46 of 67
those pictures unfortunately are absolutely real. no one in the entire world is good enough at photoshop to produce that picture.
(the viva pictures)
Sorry for being unclear.
I am questioning whether this is pictures of the final amp and not just some prototype or even someone trying to copy the original?
Have you seen the inside of a Viva Egoista STX in real life?

i can assure you that after seeing pictures of more than 4 viva amps, that they all look like this and are "production" amplifiers. In the same way that all the singlepowers were "production" amplifiers.

i can also assure you that if one of these ever shows up at my house, i would perform the singlepower rebuild on it.
and it would likely take 50 to 100 hours of labor. no different than what happened to the felista audio megatron.

these things are way above my pay grade. I'm unlikely to ever see or hear one.

Heres another photo from a @headinclouds build of a KGSSHV Carbon I owned. Kinda wish I had been able to afford the T2 whilst keeping it, as it was very enjoyable in its own way. Happy another owner gets to enjoy it however :)

Thanks UFO! I ended up with this after Nic and it's not going anywhere for a long while. Definitely an endgame piece for me. I listen to it pretty much every day since I got it. I heard the Kerry T2 a few years back and loved it as well but too rich for my blood lol.

My first estat amp. SRM-1/mk 2, with pro and normal bias sockets.
It arrived with one dead channel.
Local electronic repair place had NFI. I had NFI either...
Eventually I found someone in Australia who worked on old Stax gear so I sent it off and it came back with new caps and a few other bits and pieces.
I plugged in the 404's, hooked it up a source - and fell in love with the Stax sound.

It is on it's way to a new home now, along with those '404's. (I upgraded to a T1 and 404 LE's some time back)

My "new" 006ta is on it's way from Birgir, to power the '007's (mk2) that are also incoming.

I wonder how many of those Viva amps will still be bringing joy to people in 40 years time.

Ahh I didn't know this thread existed. Here's my @HeadAmpTeam BHSE:

and the BHSE power supply:

Very clean looking.
Certainly a good amplifier and one of the best choices one can make in the statamp market.

That BHSE build looks remarkably clean, and has fairly quality components (i.e. using Nichicon caps and not Jamicon caps, unlike that $8K Zahl headphone amp).

Thanks for posting this!

Stax Non-Electrostatic, CDP, Stax Quattro II
Interesting to see Stax build quality in other items.

This is my Stax Quattro II CDP. It's beaten up but still works! It's hooked up to my 717+007mk1, amazing combo sound.
