Under the hood - Electrostatic amp photos

Looks to be the same back (image we're seeing is flipped)

Pathetic. It's good that 2023 is exposing the boutique amateurs.

Now if these dolts would stop encouraging the buyer power.

Aside: A YouTuber trying to shill his way Director Garage references both Liquid Fire and Dark Star as some of the best in amp design. Laughable.

I still remember back when head-fi had some bite about it.
Glad @kevin gilmore is still luring

That Viva STX looks.....oof.

This is why we advocate, and should continue to advocate, to see the internals of electronics prior to laying out significant sums of money for them.

Thank you for posting these.
My first thought when I saw these photos was: this can't possibly be real. THIS is the inside of a 12k commercial amp?!

If this is indeed the Viva, well, I don't know what I'm looking at but I do know it looks awful.

DIY STAX T2 from vertek in China. He's the guy who originally posted the internals of the Viva STX and Woo Audio 3ES. Seems decent to me?

How about actual excellent builds from wonderful community members.
Only saw George's T2 which is fantastic.

Controversial VIVA STX
Dangerous wiring/soldering among other engineering flaws

Do you even know if the pictures are real?

The images were posted on a Chinese forum by vertek, who launched several threads exposing poorly built amps.
But for some reason vertek only posts pictures showing both the outside and the inside in the same picture when the amp is nicely built.
If it's not nicely built, he just shows pictures of the internals...

Why should a manufacturer make something this messy in actual production?
It will take way too long to put together, have too many errors and a pain to debug.
So I think it's a prototype that Vertek posted pics of.

I am no DIY expert but judging purely on the looks I think Vertek's build can be classified as wonderful assuming the first 2 pictures you posted are classified as wonderful. Correct me if I'm wrong but if the photos were shot with a proper angle and lighting I don't see it being too off Geoge's build. However, I do think the circuits and internal components are more important than the looks, so might need an expert like Kevin Glimore to truly judge the build.

Yea, you are gonna want to take a real close look over that build. You originally posted it as JR Audio which tells you everything.

those pictures unfortunately are absolutely real. no one in the entire world is good enough at photoshop to produce that picture.
(the viva pictures)

the 4 extra large caps added on the jraudio t2 do not make me happy. they don't do anything and are poorly attached. its crap like this that turns a reliable amp into a piece of garbage.
