Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread

A few posts ago, I did a post detailing how to get better sound.
Anyways, I have since done Kees Mod, and am hugely impressed with the results.
The sound is warmer, less fatigue on the highs, less sibilance, more up front mids, beautiful bass response.
I would have never thought the slight and easy mods would have such a nice impact on the sound.
It is much different sounding than the stock now, and better across the board in Lows, Mids, and Highs.

The screwdriver is a philips precision #00. You can get a set of precision screwdrivers for 4 bucks at Walgreens.
Stick a piece of felt on the inside of each cup, away from the driver.
Buy standard cosmetic beauty cotton pads, 5.5 cm across is perfect. I put two in each cup. One was too much bass, three was too little bass. Two was just right.
I bandaged the left most hole on the right side, and the right most hole on the left side.
It's so nice now, really you must try this if u have a pro 900.
If you do have questions about Kees mod, I have no problem answering them.

Which Ultrasone is the most balanced and neutral of the closed models?

How well do these  suckers do every genre. I listen to everything and like a little boost in the bass. I just don't want the mids to be super recessed. I'm coming  from some dt770's  80Ohm and looking  for an upgrade.

No idea about the DT770, but the 900 do fairly well with a variety of genres. I think the 2900 might be a better choice though, as an overall all-around headphone, assuming you can deal with an open-back model in your scenario. But the 900 aren't dreadfully recessed or inferior for a variety of music. :)

I was just hovering over amazon, about to buy the 900s when I refreshed the page and they went on a lightning sale! They're on for only $199 if you buy them during the next ten minutes or so. So if anyone is on the edge about buying them, now is the time!

These headphones are great for modding too. Pads are about the easiest in the industry to remove, and you get to work with the S-Logic Plus plate. Can't even tell you how many times I experimented with stuffing the cups with exfoliating pads and putting felt tips on and around the holes on the plate, haha! Super easy to experiment with, and quite fun to boot.

Wow. That's a pretty screamin' deal. Not much time left...

Can't wait until I get mine! I've been browsing the forums for weeks trying to decide what to upgrade to from my xb500's, but these stood out to me. I've never even heard an audiophile-grade pair of headphones before, so I'll hopefully be blown away

Me too. I like my DT770's for bass heavy closed headphones, but from what I hear these will be even better. And they'll be a bassier alternative to complement my HD650's. Seems like that was a pretty incredible deal (the $300 Amazon has it listed for is already a good deal compared to before from what I understand), thanks to everyone who posted it!

What version of the dt770 do you have? Also, could you leave some impressions when you get them. I'm looking for an upgrade to my dt770's.

I have the 80 Ohm version. I'll be sure to post some impressions, then. To be honest, I'm perfectly satisfied with my DT770's since I have HD650's for more critical listening, but I couldn't pass up the Pro 900 deal and from what I hear they should be a great step up.

God can't believed I missed out on the Amazon lightning deal. If someone here who has bought the 900s on Amazon recently and isn't satisfied with them, I'll be glad to take it off your hands (I'll pay of course)

Howdy guys, many MANY moons ago I was a frequant hater of the pro 900s :D and I'm happy to say Soon I'll be trying these as part of a Head Fi trade! YAY but I still want to try these, and I'm still skeptical of the validity of S-logic q.q

still got a pair of Dt 990s today [many say these are an open version] of the closed pro 900 so who knows if S-logic works with my ears I might be a BELIEVER...
