Thanks, so i guess these would make good all around headphones ? there not basshead phones are they ?

I think the ultrasone pro 900 is considered to be one of the top basshead  headphones.  But don't get me wrong, they have very clear highs as well and a little recessed mids.

I'm not a basshead so I tune down the bass to -2 on my Fiio e17 and they are great. When I plug directly to my iPhone or iPad, I hate them. Way too muddy, recessed mids, sharp highs...YUCK!

I was amazed at the difference with the e17.

Does anyone find when they move them 900's a couple of millimeters the sound changes?

I never purchased headphones $100 and up. So how would the Pro900s compare to an IEM like the IE80 on all the frequencies? Im really debating whether I should purchase the Pro900s or not. I just dont want to dish out $300 for a 'slight' upgrade and I also dont want to miss out on awesome sound quality either.

They are so different sounding that I don't think they're even that comparable. It's not like owning one of them would make owning both redundant.

That said: The Pro 900 is a lot more V-shaped while the IE80 is a lot more balanced. The Pro 900 is rather dependant on you listening to EDM or other more bassy and the IE80 works just as well with anything.

I had some strange issues with my brand new Pro900's last night, when I had it hooked up to my iBasso D6 using a LOD adapter from my iPhone I got some crazy static every so often. I've used this same config on my HFI-780's, Senn HD650, Senn PMX90, Yuin OK3, and Beyer T70 with this never happening before.

When I hooked them up to my Little Dot MK IV it didn't happen again.

The only difference was I was using the 1/4" cable on the desktop amp and the 1/8" on the portable amp.

I'm thinking either one of two things, either electrical noise from the phone (weird if it is since it's never happened before), or maybe I had the cable kind of loose?

Any ideas?

How do you like the Pro 900s with the Little Dot MKIV? I've been considering getting one (first amp) but wasn't sure how well tubes worked with these headphones. Still debating if solid state is a better way to go with such bass heavy cans and the hip-hop / trance music that will played on them.
