Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread

Yeah I'm not writing it off by any means-I'm just not really a portable guy. I'm still debating on getting a V200 which looks to have a similar sound signature. I'd love to have one-it's just much easier for me to justify spending $1000 on a desktop than $400 on a portable...strange I know lol. Plus I don't even have a portable 'phone, nor do I want one. I only listen at home-100%. I'm still debating though, and will probably get one since I always wanted to try an RS amp.

Everyone has their own preferences. I just think you should give it a try. You can always sell it for almost a complete refund. I think RSA offers a 30 day money back guarantee as well.

LOL im not hatin just sayin some people are delusional.

You forgot to add in your OPINION.  I am very much a believer in burn-in.  Not to add another chapter to this drawn out debate, but I think it's a bit rude to call those who believe in it delusional.  If you're not a believer that's fine, but do not state your opinion as fact.

Yeah the quality of his amps are so good he backs them with a killer return policy cause he knows once you hear it you won't want to give it back

Just wanted to say that I tried 2 pro2900s.
One had about 10 hours of burn-in and the other had about 100 hours; the difference was night and day with the latter easily sounding better.
I even did a blind test...
Burn-in is definitely not some delusional consolation technique for not completely satisfied customers. If someone can't tell the difference, then their hard-earned money's probably better spent elsewhere.

I've had two Ultrasones
HFI 2200 and Pro 2500.

Both change a lot for the better.

I've heard the Pro 2500 change during a song.

Maybe some other headphones don't change or really much.
But with my experience I don't know how you couldn't tell it changed with Ultrasone.

Ultrasone changes so much they should probably be pre burned in before shipping.

I'd like to chime in about burn-in but I bought both my 2200 and 2900 used, 2200 with an unknown amount of usage and the 2900 with 300-350hrs burn-in. I had some issues with the 2200's being sibilant until I did the Kees mod on it and upped my tiny cmoy from low gain to high gain.

Unrelated, I'm really loving the 2900. Everything about them outclasses my 2200. I need to go back and check out the youtube links that you guys posted earlier.

Also, I have noticed that more people experience a pronounced burn-in with Ultrasone headphones than with any other brand. It may just be a coincidence but I doubt it. I, too, have seen significant changes in my Ultrasones, much more than my D2000s and HD 555s.

It must be the "stiff titanium-plated drivers."

Well my PROs are easily at 300 hours. First hour was shocking, so I put them away, prepared myself for what's coming and put them on again. It took me at least a week before I could describe the sound signature and it was not after a month of heavy use that I could adapt to it.

Again, the only improvement I notice is when I get my balls licked.

The HFI-780 haven't changed at all in the 1000 hours I used them. To me. And I believe myself more than anybody else. I can easily tell a difference by changing sources, so yes, my ears are working perfectly fine.

I have to admit that with my friend's 580 the highs sounded unprecise out of the box. Two weeks later, I enjoyed them a lot - but I was expecting a far inferior sound to the 780s, which probably were wrong expectations.

However, I believe air pressure can change the perceived sound a lot more than any burn-in or blue silver dragon warrior cable can.
Also, if I'm excited, I could ask for even more bass. When I'm tired, it's way too much. I never had bass presence change during the same listening session.

Has anyone ever compared Darth Beyers to the Pro 900s? I might have to do it just to settle it and find out what the true bass king is. I searched and couldn't find anyone comparing them. The only thing is that they don't sell V3 Darths anymore and the V4s are supposed to have less bass.

Yeah, the burn in is very real with these
Back when mine were new I was listening to this song, about half way through the bass disappeared completely
