Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread

I also got the 900s less than a month ago and now I'm getting the LCD-2, what a coincidence. Yeah I've always wanted the LCD-2, and I figured now was the time to take the plunge and spend the money to find out if they are the real deal. With that said, I love my 900s, but I want to see what I'm missing.

It's all too easy too say that though! The 900s were supposed to be my last purchase for a long time. Gonna get the LCD-2 over the next few weeks (i got the Pro900 less than a month ago!)

The EF5 was meant to drive the HE6.  I have the EF2.  Looking at the power numbers, though, the EF2 should have more than enough power to drive the HE500.  **** you, Mal.  :D

Hifiman has so many different models, though, and very little to distinguish between them.  Hmm...

*off to look up reviews*

No. The EF5 is meant for the HE-5LE. The as-of-yet-unreleased EF6 is meant to drive the HE-6.

I'm gonna keep my Pro900s still but gonna sell my HD600s with 650 cable. I've had the 600s for a year and i've loved them but as soon as i got the 90s it was game over for them. They are superior in every way that i deem important. The LCD-2s should be more of the same!
What amp / DAC combo are you planning on using with your LCD-2s?

I've heard a lot of different things about this, but what is the best amp for the 900? The ZO? The E11?
I was thinking of getting the ZO V2  for my Pro 900s, but I'm making sure it's the best choice.

Applesauce.

To be honest the Pro900s don't really need an expensive amp at all. I use mine with my LD MKV and they work brilliantly together, but they are powered more than sufficiently from the headphone out on my DAC

Heya,

I'm getting a ZO R2 the moment it drops. I can't say it's the best, since we don't have it yet, but if you just want an amp, it will do it. But if you want an amp that will also do crazy things with bass that really makes the PRO900 turn into skull vibrators, then yes, it will do it too. It's gonna be a fun amp. Even word that it will function as a pre-amp in any circuit. So you can even use it with your other amps to get the effect on a desktop setup. I'm soooooo trying that.

Very best,

i have pro 900s and bought lcd-2s.  from my line of sight, they are the real deal.  But nothing does drum and bass/ dubstep like pro 900s which i listen a lot to.  lcd-2s exceeded my expectations.

OMG HES BACK

A lot of Dubstep/DNB producers use the LCD-2 in the studio, the first time I heard about them was when Nero was tweeting about them.

I'd imagine they only use them for referencing (although i haven't heard them yet, still gotta wait a few weeks for mine). I'm doing some producing right now and i can't use the Pro900s because they have too much bass (i produce trance). Sub bass that sounds good on the 900s sounds completely different on pretty much everything else (including KRK's) hopefully the LCD-2s will be different!

Is the MKV a good match? I'm considering getting one myself :)

I really enjoy the combo, although it's not a huge difference. It seems to really kick the S-Logic Plus into gear though, the soundstage really takes on a 3D-ish sorta feeling. The whole sound is very clean

Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not looking to change the sound, I just want to power them better and get that sweet 3D soundstage.
Thanks.

I'm considering maybe buying some Ultrasone 900's here:

Does anyone know if they pair well with the NFB-12 DAC/AMP?

They aren't picky. A tube amp might be a little problem to them. But a solid state, no prob.
