My perfect scenario would be ED9 SQ in Z1000 package (light weight, comfort, robust construction) that sounds good un-amped. ED8 seems to fit the bill.

Sounds like Ultrasone's new Signature headphone line

I'm not an expert but I play one on TV.  I'd say if your perfect scenario is is ED9, then the ED8 will not fit the bill, as there are differences in sound.  (Most noticeable difference is less obtrusive bass on ED8 and better balance in general.)

I'm falling in love with these headphones!!! Really exciting sound.

Any open headphones with similar signature but even better sound quality? I already have T1 and RS1i.

The Signature looks too much like ED9 to be comfortable.

I guess I should audition ED8 before selling my ED9.

My friend, welcome aboard. That's why the Ed8 is so spectacular. It's in a league of its own. Many agree that they prefer listening to the Ed8 over their HD800. Especially since you already own other high-end cans, I think you would be hard-pressed to push further. In my opinion, the Ed8 is one of the most musical and fun headphones one can buy.

I love my Ed. 8LEs, but I do not prefer them to the HD800s. Just my two cents.

Well of course. The HD800 is an incredible machine and better on several fronts - hence my use of the word "many." I'll still maintain that's not an overstatement. Many people do enjoy the fun and musicality of the E8 to the HD800. You're not one of those people. That's ok.

I'm one of those people.  I never learned to like the HD-800, although god knows I tried.  But I still love the Ed 8.

OT: Can anyone direct me to an online shop that sells replacement pads for the Ed8 and ships to Singapore if possible? The Ultrasone US store doesn't sell em either >..<

No they're not broken YET... just thinking ahead... I like to keep spares around so there's not waiting time for my favorite gear :D

$200 is a tad unacceptable even for pads with leather that comes from impoverished countries... >..<

Yes, but this is Ultrasone we are talking about.  The pads for the Edition 10s ran about twice that amount.  It is what it is.

Hey Guys,

In follow up, I'm happy to report that my sealing issues have resolved themselves as the earpads and headband have broken in with wear. No problems anymore.
